Tutorial Install a Flamingo connected socket with HomeWizard Lite

As you could see in our test, it is possible to find cheap and good quality connected sockets in general stores. However, these outlets often do not work with applications known as Smart Life. This is the case of the Flamingo plug which works in theory with Home Wizard Lite.

I note “in theory” because we will see that this is not the case. This tutorial will therefore explain to you how to actually install the outlet and the problems that you may encounter ... We are therefore going to follow what the instructions for the outlets say and then do the alternative method. If you are in a hurry, you can go directly to the second part ...

Setting up HomeWizard Lite… for nothing.

On the documentation it says to download and install theHomeWizard Lite app. So let's go. You will find it on the Android or iOS store. I invite you to start with this before plugging in the outlet.

The first step will be to register by entering your email. Validate and then select "Ok, let's get started". Please note, you need to activate the GPS of your Smartphone. Then enter your Wi-Fi password.

It is sometimes at this step that some will have problems with the inability to validate the Wi-Fi code. If you skip this step, plug in your outlet and hold down the power button until the red LED flashes. Then select "Yes, it flashes red" and wait ... And that's when a second problem often happens, the plug is not recognized ...

The application has provided for this case and offers you a direct connection to the socket. To do this, press and hold the power button again until the light flashes rapidly. Then the application asks you to go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the network named Smarthome Controller…

And there, the third problem. The announced network does not exist… It cannot be found and it is therefore impossible to go to the end of the configuration of the outlet. How to do ? Take her back to the store? No, there is another application, HomeWizard Lite Copy and Paste, that it works.

Lite SmartHome Controller (Android) is an application identical to the first one in all respects, but which has the advantage of working (iOS application). You will also find it on your store. The first steps are exactly the same as those seen previously (including starting the GPS).

And there, the pairing goes to term and the application asks you to enter a name for your take. Don't keep the word Lite, otherwise it may not work. Your plug then appears directly in your connected objects. And There you go ! Phew, the plug is finally working.

As explained on our test, the aptitudes of the applications are very limited. You can add tasks related to your outlet that will consist of turning it on or off at specific times. By creating several, you can for example switch on your outlet in the morning at 8 am and switch it off in the evening at 22 pm… And you can choose the days when to do it.

Installation of the HomeWizard Lite skill

To use your plug with Alexa, it is necessary toactivate the HomeWizard Lite skill on your app Alexa. Even if the application does not work with the socket, the skill does not pose a problem. But there is still a subtlety to use the skill. In fact, you are asked for a password at the time of activation. However, at no time did you enter a password when creating your account. In fact, it was sent to you by email directly to your inbox. It cannot be modified and it is therefore necessary to copy and paste it. Then authorize Alexa to control your catch.

Then close the window so thatAlexa begins to search for your catch. Please power it on because there is a chance that it will be off (for that, just press the power button).

OnceAlexa detected your plug, it will appear in your connected devices. Be careful, because you can see that in some cases the name of the outlet has changed to "Controller". So what are you guys ... It turned into a switch.

You can therefore rename your take by taking the initial name you put in the application. On the other hand, the type will remain “switch” because the skill considers the sockets and switches as one and the same group.

And…. That's it ! Your outlet is finally connected !! It was not easy but you can now control an extension cable, a device, a group… The routines, the programming… But that's another story!

Did i choose Alexa or did she choose me? Let's say that as a beta tester, it's a bit of both! And I do not regret having met our favorite assistant nor this adventure undertaken with Alexien Modo. Technophile, self-taught and loving popularization, I try to make our common passion easy to access!
